- APPENDIX E FOREIGN LANGUAGE CONSIDERATIONS
-
-
- At the present time, GIM is designed for use with the DOS code page for
- the United States, that is, DOS code page 437. In a near future
- release, we intend to make GIM better able to handle other DOS code
- pages; in the meantime, we recommend that you use code page 437 if at
- all possible.
-
- The only time that this restriction should become an issue is when doing
- GFE GEDCOM exports (see chapter 14), because of the way GFE translates
- foreign language characters when writing GEDCOM files.
-
- For informational purposes, the foreign-language character translations
- that GIM uses are as follows. If you notice that any of these are in
- error, or if you know of better choices for these translations, please
- bring them to our attention.
